My Unbiased Beauty Counter Review: Overnight Resurfacing Peel

I’m back with another Beauty Counter review today and one that I have been most eager to share. The Beauty Counter Overnight Resurfacing Peel is one of their best selling products and I had heard so many rave reviews on it that I knew it had to be one of the first products that I should try and review. Does it produce great results? Are the ingredients harsh? What can you expect? Read on as I answer these questions and more!

  • Please note, this is my honest review of a product I purchased with my own money. No affiliate links are used in this post.

Beauty Counter Overnight Resurfacing Peel

Key Ingredients

Glycolic Acid, Malic Acid, Lactic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid

  • The product houses over 15 botanically derived acids meaning that, unlike other face resurfacing peels that may use harsh and toxic ingredients, this one has naturally sourced components.

Product Claims

This product claims to improve skins texture, reduce pore size, and lighten dark spots. The product claims to do this in a way that is non drying or irritating to the skin.

First Impression

The first time I used this product I was super excited because of all the fantastic things I had heard about it. This was also during the winter and my face was fairly dry so I knew it would be a good test for the product. When I first applied it I instantly felt the tingle on my skin - it certainly didn’t feel like burning, but a fairly intense tingling for 1-2 minutes. The directions on the product say that you should wait a few minutes after applying until the product is soaked into the skin and then follow up with your regular night time moisturizer, so I did just this and used my Beauty Counter Rejuvenating Night Cream. After the initial minutes of tingling I did not feel anything else or feel a difference in my skin so I was skeptical that this would be doing much overnight. Much to my (pleasant) surprise, I woke up with the softest feeling skin, it did continue to work overnight! It truly did change the texture of my skin overnight and it felt amazing, I was hooked!

Does It Work? My Personal Results

I have been using this a few times a week now for about 4 months now and I can say I definitely feel a difference in my skin softness and smoothness after using. As for the reduction in pore size, honestly I haven’t noticed that for myself but I do not have very large pores to begin with so the jury is still out on that one. In regards to the lightening of dark spots, well I can’t say that I have seen a huge difference in this. My skin does have a fair amount of freckles and sunspots, especially down my nose, and I don’t feel as if these have faded in any way since using the product. With that said, I do feel that overall my skin appears brighter in the mornings after using the resurfacing peel…. does that carry on long term, I don’t necessarily believe so. I would say that, for me, the brightness and retexturizing of the skin lasts about 24 hours from the moment of applying. The peel is also great in the sense that it does not dry out (in fact the opposite) or irritate the skin at all as compared to traditional medical grade chemical peels. The formulation seems to be gentle enough that any skin type can use this.

Overall Thoughts

I love this product, I truly do. A few things that I feel I should note. The first is that if you use an oil based cleanser (especially the Beauty Counter Beauty Balm which I currently use), be very careful because the product is not as effective when there is a layer or coat of something on your skin as the acids can’t work through that effectively. You want you face to have no residues whatsoever on it before applying this to make it as effective as possible. I also wanted to note that the more often this is used, in my experience, the less you feel the tingling effect. I attribute this to the fact that your skin is in better condition and doesn’t need as much “resurfacing”. Again, I don’t feel as if this lightens dark spots permanently so if this is your aim I would try something else, otherwise I think this is a terrific product.

Who Should Buy This?

I believe this product would show the best results for those with dry, dull skin and those with mature and aging skin. I think this would also work well for those prone to breakouts or a have a history of acne scarring (although I don’t think this would completely remove scarring I think it would really help).

Do I Recommend It?

I would absolutely, 100% recommend this product!

Will I Repurchase It?

Yes, I already have in fact. My first purchase had this included in the Awakening Trio (which I will have a review on shortly) and the trial size was a part of this trio. Well the trial size (.67 FL OZ) lasted me the last 4 months but as I was sensing it was near the end, I placed an order to be sure that I am never without this gem!

Cost

Like most Beauty Counter products, the cost is a bit steep, but for me, this product gives facial-quality-like results and one facial alone can cost more so I believe the pricing is fair!

$63 for 1.0 FL OZ or $45 for 0.67 FL OZ

You can purchase the Overnight Resurfacing Peel directly through their website or from any Beauty Counter consultant!
