Mermaid Twilight: A Blue Tansy Essential Oil Roller Perfume Recipe

Ever since using the Herbivore Blue Tansy mask I have always loved the scent of Blue Tansy. I am never one to really splurge on essential oils though so I always put off actually buying a bottle of the blue gold. Well, when I glanced at it on Plant Therapy recently, I found the price to be quite reasonable so I went ahead and got myself a bottle and I am so glad I did… I am so looking forward to all the wonderful things I am going to get to create with it!

For starters, I went for a roller perfume. Typically, when I make perfume I go for the spray kind, but with the dark blue color that Blue Tansy gives I decided it was best to put it in a roller bottle so as to not stain all my clothes! But just like my spray perfume recipes, this one is super quick to throw together and looks and smells oh so professional!

And…. I added in a little something special to this one. I wanted to try out adding some mica into the bottle to give some shimmer when the perfume is applied. I was delighted to find that, not only does it produce the desired shimmer, but it also gives the whole look of the bottle a gorgeous sparkly glow! These would be great for gifts as well as they are just so darn beautiful! Hope you enjoy this one!

Follow these steps to make the full recipe, enough for 6 -10 mL roller bottles:

  1. Begin by combining the distilled water and vegetable glycerine into a small bowl. Using a small funnel transfer the mixture into your 2 oz. bottle

  2. Now add all of your essential oils into your 2 oz. bottle.

  3. Add your alcohol into the 2 oz bottle until the bottle is full to the neck. Replace the cap and gently mix together.

  4. Uncap all of your roller bottles. Using your funnel, carefully pour the perfume from your larger bottle into the smaller roller bottles, leaving a small amount of room at the top of the bottle. ** NOTE: this perfume is highly pigmented. Be sure to protect the area you are working on and be sure to not use any porous areas as your workspace. I did spill the liquid a few times but was working on a smooth countertop and it cleaned right up… just be aware and be careful when pouring!

  5. Finally, add 1/4 Tsp of gold mica into each roller bottle. Cap the bottle and mix together. Let scent meld together for 24 hours and then enjoy! Be sure to shake before each use to allow your mica to evenly disperse!

Follow these steps for filling individual bottles one at a time:

  1. Uncap your roller bottle and place a mini funnel over the top.

  2. Add the following amounts of essential oils: 12 drops Blue Tansy, 9 drops Orange, 5 drops Ylang Ylang, and 3 drops Patchouli

  3. Using the funnel, add 1/4 Tsp of gold mica. Shake the funnel until all mica drops in.

  4. Fill remainder of roller bottle, up to the neck, with carrier oil of your choice. I typically use fractionated coconut oil.

  5. Place the cap on and gently mix together. Let scent meld together for 24 hours and enjoy! Before use be sure to shake bottle to disperse the mica!
