Time To Shine: DIY Shimmer Body Oil And Bronzer

Is anyone else so excited for fall? This has always been my favorite season going back to when I was a child jumping in piles of colored leaves with my brother! Well now that we have moved to Southern California, I can’t necessarily say I get to experience the full season, but I will take what I can get! Currently it was 101 degrees today, on the second day of October, so I did what any gal loving person would do and stayed inside and made alllll of the fall things.

I’ll be revealing them all to you in the days to come, but to start with I have this absolutely amazing body shimmer oil. I am overjoyed with how this one turned out, it is definitely one of my most favorite DIY’s to date! This fun little bottle does double duty as it moisturizes the skin like a body oil, but also adds some shimmer and bronzing making your skin glow! Another great feature of this DIY is that it is easily customizable to your skin shade and tone. Oh, and of course in true Color Your Health fashion, it is super simple to make!! Happy Fall ya’ll!

DIY Shimmer Body Spray Recipe

  1. Using a mini funnel, place 5 Tablespoons of fractionated coconut oil into your bottle.

  2. Next, add 2 Tablespoons of witch hazel.

  3. Now add 2 Teaspoons of polysorbate 80.

  4. Add 1 Teaspoon of vegetable glycerine.

  5. Now add all your essential oils: 10 drops of Ylang Ylang, 5 drops of Vanilla, 5 drops of Bergamot.

  6. Finally, add 2 Teaspoons of your chosen shade of mica. This can be a bit tricky to add to the bottle as it likely will not fall freely through the funnel. I placed a little at a time into the funnel and then used the bottle lid and “straw” to push the mica through the funnel into the bottle. View the video to see exactly how I did that!

  7. To finish, you will want to screw the lid on the bottle thoroughly mix and shake. Now, let the contents settle, they will. naturally separate. Shake and mix the bottle again. You may need to do this a few times until the ingredients stay fairly blended together and don’t separate completely. Because the heavier mica will sink to the bottom, it will be natural to have some separation when the bottle has sat unused for a period of time. Just shake before using each time.
** Important Note: Spray carefully and directly into your hand then apply to your skin. Spraying freely will mean that your clothes and surroundings will also get a splash of this colored oil! As an alternative, you can take the cap off and pour a little into your hands instead of spraying!
