My Coronavirus Reading List: 7 Books To Read During Quarantine

You guys may know by now, but I absolutely love reading! Over the past year I have been diving back into this old hobby of mine and have read several great books. I had every intention of continuing this into the new year, and it now seems life has provided me with the perfect opportunity. With this unexpected downtime I decided to put together a great reading list that can get us all through this Coronavirus quarantine!

No doubt, I may have been a little overzealous in creating this list but I truly have no idea when I will be back to work so I will just take it one book at a time! If you have any other ideas to add to this list please leave them in the comments below!

The Wedding Date

So to be honest, this one I already finished reading right at the beginning of all this craziness, but I just had to include it on this list because it was such an easy read and I couldn’t put it down! This is a modern love story of the coming together of an unexpected pair. For anyone who has ever been in a long distance relationship before, you will totally relive all those feelings again as your read this book! The emotions and passion is so real it made it such a page turner… if you like love stories you will loooove this one!

Harry Potter Series

This one is actually 7 books instead of 1, but these are such easy and exciting reads that they go extremely quickly! I have been wanting to read the series for years now, but never really had the time. These books are so great, even for a 35 year old LOL! We are only one week into quarantine and I have already read 2 of the 7 books. The best part is that there are movies that go along with the books so as I read each one, the family and I have a movie night to watch the corresponding movie! I’m hoping that once this is all over, my family and I can then venture down to Universal Studios to visit Harry Potter land!

Criss Cross

If you have read any of the Alex Cross detective books then you probably understand my excitement for this new James Patterson book! If you love a good thriller, this one promises to deliver. The story centers around detective Alex Cross who helped convict a suspected killer who was then executed for his crimes…. only to begin seeing similar homicide cases popping up with letters to Detective Cross accompanying them. As more details and family secrets come out, Detective Cross soon becomes worried for his life and that of his loved ones. This will no doubt be a thrilling ride!

American Dirt

With this one being on Oprah’s Book Club list, I knew I needed to give it a read. After reading reviews on this book, I realized how this story is really relevant for our current times. The story centers around a family that was living a comfortable and happy life when their lives are turned upside down by a chance meeting with a drug lord. Soon they are fleeing for American soil and holding onto a glimmer of hope. This sounds like such a god read for the soul during these uncertain times.

A Good Neighborhood

This is also what I feel like is another great read for our current times. The story is centered around two families who are neighbors in an upscale neighborhood. Their differences threaten to tear them apart while their is something important to them both that wants to bring them together. This book is all about taking a closer look at how we treat each other with underlying topics such as racism and love.

Untamed

This book seems like a must read for women everywhere. As women we have pressure put on us from all aspects of life to be the perfect “everything”. Overtime we can forget who we truly are as the world shapes us into who they want us to be. This memoir by Glennon Doyle recounts her own journey with finding her true self and her inner strength and inspires all women to do the same.

Open Book

This book came at the recommendation of a friend, and after hearing such raving reviews on it I decided it sounded like a fun read. This book goes behind the scenes of the life of Jessica Simpson, and of course, she holds nothing back. It appears to be a mix of juicy gossip, Jessica Simpson type humor, and bits of advice on how to live your best life from a woman and mother who has been through her fair share of ups and downs. If you ever wondered what life is like behind the scenes of a celebrity and mom, you can bet that Jessica Simpson will tell it like it is LOL!
